~What I Do...

I have been attending Civil War Balls for about three years now and I love it! I have made several Civil War costumes for myself and am ready to begin making them for others. I can follow a pattern that you give me, or can explore more options with you to find the exact kind of gown that you want. If you have a pattern, I can adjust it to make it more modest and authentic to the Civil War era.
Or if you have a dress that you have started, but are overwhelmed with the project, I can finish it for you.

Gowns start at about $65, but vary depending on the style and detail desired. Please email me to talk more about it: MaddieMoose12@aol.com

Girls Dresses!

These two dresses were so fun to make! The bodices are lined and button in the back. They aren't as short as girls dresses would have been during the Civil War, but the girls wanted dresses that would "touch the floor like a princess dress or wedding dress." These are by far my favorite dresses that I have made for other people. I love you girls!

Ladies Dresses

This is a dress that I recently made for my younger sister. After doing some research, she found a style dress that she really liked. Instead of looking for and buying a new pattern, I took pieces of different patterns, altered, and combined them to imitate the kind of dress she wanted. I made a new bodice neckline to make it more modest, and modified the style of the skirt. It is one piece, and laces up in the back, and although it is fairly simple, it leaves many options for additional trim and style alterations in the future.

This is a simple day dress that I made when I dressed up as Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women" a couple years ago with some friends. It is made of cotton, and is really comfortable. The sleeves are long, but can easily be pushed up.

Now I know why super - heros wear capes: they are really fun to wear! This one is rather heavy, has a hood, and ties in the front. It would be really easy to lengthen or shorten it, depending on the occaision.
This was one of my first dresses. It was made with satin, and the bodice and skirt are attached. The neckline and skirt hem are trimmed with lace. I also adjusted the neckline to make it more modest. It's not really that authentic to the mid 1800's, but its really fun to dance in!

This is a dress that I did a lot of adjusting and modifying on. I used a pattern as a guideline, and then altered it so that it looked similar to another dress that I liked. The bodice and skirt are separate, and instead of having a zipper, it laces up in the back. I also did a lot to the style of the bodice to make it more modest and authentic to the Civil War era.
